1. Summary
The Mosaic Complex Type Expansion Joint (DBFR) was developed by assembling Mosaic finger plates over Rail type expansion joint.
It has the same operation principle as Rail Type Expansion Joint. The Mosaic Finger Plate is applied to the top of rail beam in order to reduce noise. This reduces noise by distributing load and noise. This expansion joint can be installed on all types of bridges, from small to very long span bridges, and supports field-tailored all-in-one products. It minimises structure damage through its free expansion and contraction and rotation in all directions (longitudinal, transversal, and vertical).
2. Features
Since the Mosaic Finger Plate is applied, this expansion joint provides far better vehicle driving than the Rail Type Expansion Joint.
The waterproof rubber seal between rail beams is installed in the rail groove processed in the same way as a rubber seal, playing its waterproof role perfectly. This secures the durability of the lower structures of the bridge. The spacing system installed on the bottom of the rail beams equally distributes the whole expansion behavior. For the semi-permanent use of structural steel parts, elastic parts with excellent attenuation are applied. It is possible to make continuous use only by replacing parts.
The Mosaic Complex Type Expansion Joint uses only components that have undergone rigorous testing, ensuring that it can withstand various environmental and physical conditions during the endurance life of the bridge. Furthermore, the expansion joint is applicable regardless of bridge type. In short, it is usable without the limitation of expansion length (at least 50 mm).
The gap between mosaic finger plates and rail beams is max. 80-100mm according to field conditions. The number of rail beams and the number of waterproof rubber seals are dependent on the expansion length.

3. Waterproof
For the implementation of the perfect waterproof function of expansion joints, is achieved through the use of waterproof rubber seals placed in the rail grooves, processed in the same way as rubber seals. This ensures that water leaks are perfectly prevented. The diamond-shaped waterproof rubber seals are easy to assemble and repair, and have the excellent function to prevent water from leaking to the bottom of an expansion joint.
4. Anti-corrosion
As for the surface treatment of structural steels, hot dip galvanizing is applied to prevent salt stress and corrosion in accordance with KS D 8308 Standards. Compared to coating, this treatment guarantees excellent corrosion-resistance and adhesion. The thickness is 85μm, ensuring about 45 years of endurance.
